Enjoy a program of works for multiple pianos, two pianos, duets and solos performed by USQ Lecturer in Music and acclaimed Australian pianist, Dr Marilyn Meier-Kapavale and her talented students - the USQ Keyboard Ticklers. This exciting and innovative recital will combine eight pianos on the Arts Theatre stage in a program of multiple pianos with two or three performers at each. Much-loved masterworks such as Ravel's Bolero, Holst's Jupiter from The Planets and Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld will feature along with other lighter favourites including The Addams Family theme and Oktoberfest tunes.

From Europe to Polynesia

Take a musical journey from the classical tones of Europe to the laidback rhythms of Polynesia with renowned pianist, Dr Marilyn Meier Kapavale. Drawing on her German and Tongan heritage, Marilyn will present a wonderfully diverse program of piano works by European masters including Mozart (Variations on Salve, tu Domine in F Major) and Chopin (Sonata No 2) and lesser know Tongan composers, Queen Salote Tupou III and Tuimala Kaho.

USQ’s resident ensemble returns to the Arts Theatre with a premium program of works for clarinet, cello and piano. The charismatic trio comprise Marilyn Meier-Kapavale, one of Australia’s leading contemporary pianists, consummate clarinettist, Martin Crook and Associate Principal Cellist with the Queensland Orchestra, Matthew Kinmont. The program will include Kenneth Leighton's Fantasy on an American Hymn Tune and Beethoven’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano - an early work, composed in 1798 and regarded as atypical of the composer; gentle, lyrical.

Twilight Ensemble Recital

The USQ Phoenix Ensemble rises from the embers with an all-new line-up and name. Ensemble A250, comprising Matthew Kinmont (cello), Martin Crook (clarinet) and Marilyn Meier-Kapavale (piano) will present two masterworks: Debussy's Sonata for Cello and Piano and Brahms' Trio in A minor.
